Dr. Wil Burns is Associate Director of the Environmental Policy and Culture Program at Northwestern University and Founding Co-Director of the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal at American University. A leading expert in climate geoengineering and climate loss and damage, he serves as an advisor and consultant for carbon removal startups, purchasers like Frontier, and verification firms such as Verra and Puro.earth. He has taught at a number of universities, including John Hopkins University, Stanford, the University of Chicago and UC Berkeley. Prof. Burns holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental Law from Cardiff University.
