Andrew Barbeau is the President of The Accelerate Group. Andrew had a central role in the development of Illinois' landmark Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, passed in 2021, as well as 2016's Future Energy Jobs Act, and is currently working to support legislators on a new energy omnibus bill in Springfield. For the past two years, The Accelerate Group has been working to help states accelerate new climate and energy initiatives in the wake of the federal Inflation Reduction Act, securing more than $1.3 billion in funding to stand up new climate, resilience and energy efforts across the country, including more than $750 million here in Illinois. Andrew and his team are currently supporting the establishment of the Illinois Finance Authority as the new Illinois Climate Bank, which will lead or support much of that work, including developing new financing tools to support clean energy investment. At the federal level, Andrew currently serves as the Chair of the Electricity Advisory Committee for the US Department of Energy.
